December 30, 2024

In this message, Coach Tom gave us a game plan for making the most of 2025. We learned how to step out from the crowd and into God’s plan for our lives by going the extra mile. Use this guide to keep talking about the sermon!

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Character, compassion, and commitment are revealed when we go the second mile.
  • “There are no traffic jams on the second mile.” — Roger Staubach
  • New opportunities are waiting for you on the second mile.
  • Second Milers always leave things better than they found them.
  • Until you build trust, people will not empower you.

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • What’s something you’re looking forward to in 2025?

KEEP TALKING

  • Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God’s kingdom first. What would it look like for you to seek God first in 2025?
  • Character, compassion, and commitment are revealed when we go the second mile. Where do you feel God calling you to go the second mile (e.g., in one of your relationships, in your job, etc.)?
  • Who is a person in your life who consistently goes the second mile? How does their intentionality inspire you?
  • Coach Tom said we should never allow the size of the assignment to dictate our effort. Where are you not bringing your best because the assignment or opportunity feels small? How did this sermon encourage you?
  • Excellence honors God and expands our influence. Where would you love to increase your influence in the New Year? How can you bring a spirit of excellence to that area of your life?

KEEP IT GOING

As we prepare to step into a new year, it’s important to pause and reflect on the year we just had. Use this guide to help you look back on all God did in 2024—and then get your hopes up for all He is going to do in 2025!

PRAYER

Father, thank you for carrying us through another year. We recognize that it was your hand and your faithfulness that sustained us. Thank you for being a God who demonstrated what it looks like to go the second mile. May your great love fuel us to go above and beyond for others in 2025. Amen.
