Next Steps for Lesson 3

Great job on continuing through to Lesson 3 of How to Study the Bible. As a next step in applying what you learned, take a look at Colossians 3:1-4 and complete two steps to Observing a passage:

  • Observe the sentences and words
  • Interpret the Passage of Scripture (using the 4 Cs from this week’s study).

To complete this exercise, you could:

  • Print this out and use a pencil or a pen as you follow the suggestions below
  • Write out this passage in your journal, marking it up as you work through it
  • Make notes directly on this passage in your Bible

If you don’t have any of the tools we discussed, a good Study Bible can help tremendously, and websites like blueletterbible.org and biblegateway.com can also be good resources.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV)
