Who Was Jesus Really? | Keep Talking
Just Jesus | Week 1
Christ Fellowship Team
March 16, 2025
In this message, Pastor Ryan kicked off a new series, “Just Jesus.” Over the next few weeks, we will journey through the Gospel of Mark in hopes of seeing Jesus for Who He was — both fully human and fully divine. Use this guide to keep talking about Sunday’s sermon.
SERMON HIGHLIGHTS
- “The influence of Jesus on history is like a drop of ink in a glass of water — He has colored everything.” Will Durant
- “Jesus remains the most fascinating, disruptive, and life-altering figure in all of history.” John Ortberg
- “The most difficult task of the Christian life is not loving Jesus, but truly understanding Him.” Dallas Willard
- “Mark’s gospel is designed to leave you asking questions, compelling you to rethink everything in light of Jesus.” N.T. Wright
KEY SCRIPTURES
START TALKING
- Mark is sometimes referred to as the “Adventure Gospel” because his book about the life of Jesus is fast-paced and action-packed. If you were writing a book about someone, who would you pick and why?
KEEP TALKING
- Mark described Jesus as the Son of God. When you think of Jesus, what comes to your mind?
- Jesus asked His disciples in Mark 8:29, “Who do you say that I am?” Who is Jesus to you?
- Jesus’ disciples didn’t fully understand who He was and what following Him would entail. How has following Jesus been different than you expected?
- Where would you love to grow in your understanding of Jesus?
KEEP IT GOING
- The best way to keep this sermon going is to open up your Bible and continue reading the Gospel of Mark! Don’t know where to start? Check out our reading plan on the Christ Fellowship App.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for giving us Jesus. Thank you that through Him, we get a clear picture of you. There is no greater gift than your perfect Son. Open our eyes and enhance our understanding as we read your Word this week. Amen.
