The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.

Start Talking - Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.

  • Have you ever ended up lost? How did you end up there and how did you respond?
  • What ideas or images come to your mind when you think of the Holy Spirit?

Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.

Read these Scriptures out loud:

Acts 2:14a

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd…
  • How did Peter’s personal encounter with the Holy Spirit change him?
  • What can we learn from Peter’s encounter that the Holy Spirit wants to do in our lives?

Ephesians 5:18

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit?
  • What does Paul’s comparison between being drunk on alcohol and being filled with the Holy Spirit tell us about the influence that the Holy Spirit wants to have in our lives?

Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.

  • We can miss out if we are misinformed.
    • Have you been misinformed about the Holy Spirit – Who He is, what He wants to do in and through our lives? What have you thought about the Holy Spirit that you now realize is incorrect?
    • As Pastor Julie said, when we are misinformed about something, it can leave us feeling stuck, fearful, and powerless. Is this true of what you previously thought about the Holy Spirit? How did that misunderstanding impact your relationship with God and your life in general?
  • Eagerly pursue the Holy Spirit and the gifts He wants to give.
    • 1 Corinthians 14:1 instructs us to “earnestly desire” the things of the Spirit of God. In the original Greek language, this is given as a command, not a suggestion.
    • Have you prayed for the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit [see Lk. 11:13]? Are you asking the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh every day and earnestly desiring the spiritual gifts? If so, what have you noticed in your life since you’ve begun to do this? If not, what has been holding you back from all that God wants to give to you?
  • The gifts have been given to you, but they are not for you.
    • 1 Cor. 12:7 says, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good,” and immediately then goes into a list of spiritual gifts.
    • How does understanding that these spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit for the good of other people impact your understanding of your place and role within the body of Christ – the church – and the unity that God desires to see among His people?

Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Pastor Todd challenged us to “Make Pentecost Personal.” How can you carry this into your week, beyond Sunday? What might that look like to go through your weekly routine consciously aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence with you and empowered by Him to do things beyond your own capabilities?
  • Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
  • S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
