How to Honor When It’s Hard
The Front Door That We Share | Heart for the House Part 2

The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.
Start Talking – Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.
- What stuck out to you from last weekend’s message? What are you doing to get and stay planted in God’s House?
- Are you a dog person or a cat person? Why?
Keep Reading – Read the scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.
Read these Scriptures out loud:
I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells. Psalm 26:8
- In the Old Testament, God’s house was the Temple, where the glory of God dwelled. Yet, in the New Testament, through faith in Jesus, the Church – the people of God – is the House of God [1 Cor. 3:16, 1 Tim. 3:14-15, 1 Pet. 2:5]
- What does the realization that God’s glory dwells where His people come together impact how you view and understand the Church?
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10
- Pastor Julie challenged us to outdo one another in showing honor.
- What might this look like in your daily life?
Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.
1. Honor opens the door to a Spiritual Inheritance.
- God is worthy of honor simply because of who He is. Yet God also tells us in His Word that He will honor those who honor Him (1 Sam. 2:30).
- Have you seen an example in your life or the life of someone close to you who honored God with their life? What impact have you noticed in the lives of those who honor God?
2. Honor opens the door to the Supernatural.
- Pastor Julie read a passage from Mark 6, in which because Jesus was not honored, He “could not do any miracles among them” [Mk. 6:1-5]
- If dishonor constrains God from doing the supernatural in our lives, what would honoring God and the people God brings into our lives do? How do you think living a lifestyle of honor would open the door to the supernatural in your life?
3. Honor opens the door to Exponential Impact
- Pastor Julie shared how Christ Fellowship’s intention to honor and serve the communities in which we live have resulted in exponential opportunities to impact our communities with the love and message of Jesus Christ.
- Have you seen this in your life as well? If not, how might choosing to intentionally honor your classmates, teachers, coworkers, bosses, and so forth open the door to allow your life to have exponential impact on those around you?
Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- What is one person in your life whom you haven’t honored that you can choose to begin honoring in speech and action this week?
- Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
- S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
