The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.
Start Talking – Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.
- Have you ever felt like you missed out on an experience someone else had? What was that experience, and how did it make you feel?
- What is something that was difficult to accomplish, but was worth the challenge once you completed it?
Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.
Read these Scriptures out loud:
Matthew 5:4
You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.
- Why do you think Jesus says that we are blessed when we feel we have lost what is most dear to us?
- Dr. John Maxwell said that if the prodigal son knew how the Father loved him, he would have gone back sooner. Why do you think there are times in our life when we don’t run back to God sooner?
Matt 11:28-30
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.
- To have this incredible life we have to—on purpose—stay close to God. How can we more frequently “keep company” with God?
Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.
1. Make an Effort to Spend Time with Jesus
- What did Dr. John Maxwell mean when he said that everything worthwhile is uphill?
- Why do we want to be a climbing companion with Jesus? What might we miss out on if we stay at the lake?
2. Admit Your Need for God
- Dr. John Maxwell said that the one thing every miracle has in common is that it started with a problem. How does this change the way we view our problems?
3. Develop a Hunger and Thirst for God
- How can we develop habits that lead us to reach out to God when we feel empty, and not to other things?
Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- What is one thing you can do this week to spend more intentional time with Jesus?
- Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
- S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
