Start Talking – Find conversations starters for the group or with a friend.

  • What’s the last cool thing you bought from Amazon?
  • What is the strangest job you ever applied for? Did you get it?

Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.

Read these Scriptures out loud:

Luke 8:1-3

  • Look at the list of people associated with Jesus in this passage. How does this list demonstrate what Pastor Jimmy said, “God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called!”
  • This passage reminds us that God uses us in His plans, and to support the ministry financially too (the women supported them “out of their means”). Of these two opportunities, which is harder for you to let God use (your life or your means)? Why?

Ephesians 2:10; Matthew 4:18-20; Luke 9:10-17

  • According to the Ephesians passage, God has created us to do good works. What should those good works look like in our lives?
  • Notice in the Matthew passage, to “fish for people,” we must first follow. Why do you think this is true?

Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.

Pastor Jimmy shared that, “God always uses people to fulfill his plans.”

By being in His company, how do we get in on His plans?

1. Help Wanted: There is a job for you!

  • According to Pastor Jimmy, the only qualification you need to apply is your story. What is your God-story which concerns how God has changed you?
  • It’s truly a privilege that we get to be a part of God’s plan, and that He uses His people to fulfill His plans. How has God used you recently?
  • Pastor Jimmy shared once at an earlier job he quit (Taco Bell). Have you ever felt like “quitting” on God? How did you make it through that time?

2. Hands Open: Live an Open-handed Life!

  • Just as your fingerprints and the lines on your hands are unique to you, how has God uniquely equipped you to serve his church?
  • As Pastor Jimmy said, “Your life in God’s hands is so much better than life in your own hands.” Can you share a time when you realized this truth?

3. History Accepted: God makes our history part of His-story!

  • Pastor Jimmy said, “The more history you have, the more testimony you have for God.” Has there been a painful season you walked through but later God was able to use that for His kingdom?
  • Pastor Jimmy shared that the “benefits” of being in God’s company are grace and mercy. How has God shown His grace and/or mercy to you recently?

Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Once we accept God’s Help Wanted ad, we are “recruiters” through the power of the Holy Spirit. This week, who can you recruit to God’s “company?”
  • Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and set it as a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
  • S.O.A.P. out the Scripture/s this week.
