Swaps You Can Make to Be a Part of the Heart
5 simple ways to prepare for what you’re praying for.
Christ Fellowship Team
I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.
Psalm 26:8
The church you see today wasn’t always this way. The 40 years of life change you see now started with 40 people in a living room. As we stand on the shoulders of 40 years of faithfulness, that generosity has spanned generations—a church always built on small beginnings and the sacrifices of many.
In this season of Heart for the House, we get to continue in that legacy as we prepare for what we’re praying for and give toward the vision and future God has for our church. Heart for the House is a special offering we get to be a part of every year, where we give above our regular tithes and offerings. There isn't a set amount you should give, but as we often say, it’s not the size of your gift—it's the size of your sacrifice!
In a previous year, Pastors Todd and Julie gave up eating out for a year so they could give more. We encourage you to pray about how God wants you to be a part of it and learn more about the Heart for the House vision for 2024.
If you’ve been trying to think of creative ways you can sacrifice for a season and give toward the vision—we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of 5 easy swaps you can make to be a part of the heart!
1. Swap Buying Lunch for Packing a Lunch
According to a Visa survey, Americans spend almost $5 more per meal on average when buying lunch instead of packing it.
2. Swap Buying Things You Don’t Need for Selling Items You No Longer Need
If you’re still in spring cleaning mode, what better way to clear away the clutter than to get rid of items you no longer need, love, or use?
3. Swap Your Starbucks for Making Coffee at Home
According to CNET, you can save over $300 per year by making a 12-ounce serving of coffee at home. The little coffee shop purchases add up throughout the year!
4. Swap Buying Books for Library Loans
Instead of purchasing books throughout the year, consider committing to only checking out books from the library.
5. Swap Your Soda for Water
Drinking water instead of soda can save money (and benefit your health). The average American drinks 53 gallons of soda annually and spends about $850 annually on soft drinks.
